About 38 at our max today. We started our session with some A2 fun with "the simplest three way you will ever have" in doctor doctor. We then saw Poctalon in which tryteyker learned A) that leading up with the troops is a good thing, and B) The bullet repellent spray he put on was working!. After this the party saw fit our deployment on Altis in Kavaleola, where inde had adapted a blind lead the blind policy. Finally we finished off with black mambas Breach in the wall, I died early so missed out the bit with the ladder.

Just going to cover the two adversarials because I very much enjoyed them. May add the coop later.

Doctor Doctor
Blufor CO
The plan was to do one fake landing on one side of the AO before circling round to the south side and inserting SE of the gas station hopefully behind the advancing indfor. Then we would follow them in and clean up when we got to the doctor. This pretty much went according to plan, we had a little contact on the way in taking a couple of guys down, the rifle fire died down and we moved in, I was observing super from the building opposite over the courtyard and told my guys to move in quickly only to hear contact to my East. We were told by the powers that be to move in as not many were left but we were already 50m from the doctor so didn't have too much to worry about. I followed Dancemoox's directions to the contact but got the wrong building and was shot in the back :S Much kudos to the blufor FT.

Kavaleola
Opfor CO
This was possibly my best adv performance to date and this is why. We had a really poor distribution of caches with two in the northmost area, two in the southmost area and two right in the middle. Cursing my luck at having to defend four, I decided to give up two of the caches and prepare for an assault from the North. This didn't last long when we heard one of the southern caches being blown. All elements were moved south with Ice staying slightly north as ASL to slow down anyone that might bypass the main force. It is probably work pointing out at this time we were heavily outnumbered so couldn't cover the whole town effectively so we moved to hold the middle two caches. Ice directed A2 to the hospital and A1 to the cache west of it. At the time I was the closest unit to the blown caches so I went to investigate but managed to bypass the hostiles who had moved in on the A2 position and started an engagement.

This helpfully meant the enemy team had no idea that I was behind them, I moved up to the wall East of them and put a few rounds into a guy before throwing a bunch of grenades over the wall and moving to their southern flank. I spotted a guy next to the warehouse wall pulling back and took him down with some automatic fire as I noticed someone escaping to the hospital. I warned A2 and noticed one more guy prone looking towards the hospital and so i shot him a bit too. Current body count - confirmed kills 3 probably more depending how many A2 got. I went fast to the hospital staircase with Ice moving in from the North to clear the nearby rocks. Heading up the stairs I saw one above me and took him down, before heading down the stairs and finding another. Up to 5 confirmed.

By now A1 was getting engaged from their south so I left tiger to overwatch and Ice and I moved in on foot to assist. Tiger had spotted some on the roof of an apartment block and was keeping them pinned. On the way I spotted movement in an upper storey and put a 203 round into the house, and moved in to clear it. Two more bodies, I look outside and see one guy moving in the courtyard beyond and I am up to 8 confirmed. Ice and I move on the base of the apartments and he takes down 3 coming down the stairs before we hear further engagements at Tiger and A1. Tiger goes quiet so we head back but I can't see anything but do hear explosives being placed so high tail it out of there. Head is engaged (A1) from his north so I go to assist and Ice gets taken down by contacts at the Hospital. I investigate Head's north but find nothing and we are ordered to showdown at the Hospital again. The rocks NE of the hospital seem particularly appealing so i skirt round and see movement on the stairs. The guy is out of sight but his friend comes to find him from the roof. I take out the guy on the roof with a single round to the face and his mate backtracks down the stairs. Up to 9 so I put a grenade into the stairs and some rounds two leaving only corpses. That makes a round 10 and head finishes off the last dude. The stairs were covered with bodies and the area were i first engaged the enemy was littered with unaccounted bodies that may well have fallen to my grenades. 10 confirmed kills and probably more in very tense and frantic combat made for an amazing feeling, was shaking at the end :D.

I'm going to be that guy and complain about Kavaleola.

Pitch black pouring rain weather by itself can be frustrating but I could understand the appeal of not knowing what you're about to bump into. Really, I love night missions, being stealthy and sticking to the shadows turns me on.

But giving the defense Nightvision Goggles? What the hell! They completely negate the darkness and the rain, and the game basically turns into an exercise of shooting (blind) fish in a barrel. Yeah, I'm sure you guys had a lot of fun shooting us, but it was completely unfair and is just bad mission design. Bravo evaporated in a matter of seconds once we hit contact and only I and one other person were able to escape only to die soon after from a direction I could not have predicted (I now know Bodge was watching me and came up behind me on the stairs of the hospital. I feel dirty now.) To add to this, the only way to really stay even is to loot the dead defense for their NVG's, as demonstrated by Wolfenswan.
/rant

I hate to complain, and I'm all for asymmetry, but I strongly disagree with the method of giving one side the NVG's during night missions.
Thoughts, opinions?

Doctor Doctor - Bluefor Medic - Bodge CO, Lord Penny FTL, IceRaiser, Draakon, Hiddenfang Operators and TryTeyker Pilot

So we chilled on the tarmac and I joined the planned ground team, Bodge was going to stay in the helo and provide some observation and fire from above. When we got moving the plan changed due to fog, my calls of "terrain, terrain, terrain" made sure Try kept us in one piece and not splattered on hillsides that loomed up on us quickly from out of the fog. On landing following our 'faked' touch and goes we moved north into a treeline and found nightvision removed any chance of cataracts in the distant future by removing all vision you had up to that point. When we set off we moved prone and slow, letting Opfor and Indie fight it out.

We had eyes on movement near the gas station and when we pulled up to the road the fog cleared up so I made my break across the road quickly. We secured buildings on the north side of the road, I was instructed to hold back for the belly rubbing medical assistance required later on. I spotted a single Indi guy moving near the gas station, I had a clear shot and took it, missing with my silenced M4. The lone contact made a run north then back south onto the road, I took my time and sighted in, wounding the poor guy and leaving him to bleed out. Before too long a handy helper had moved into heal him up. I opened up on him and they both rolled around like turtles meeting an impending death belly side up.

With blue team Ice and Hidden moving along the north side of the road and Bodge the south hill I moved positions, clearing some more buildings as I went. I was eventually able to direct Bodge to the two bodies by the road I'd shot (this was a foreshadowing of what was to come later). As we moved up we returned to belly infiltration mode. Bodge made audio contact with Super. I was on the north side of a low wall with buildings between myself and Draakon, when I spotted an enemy in a building to the north Bodge moved in but ended up getting shot in the back, I took a knee and fired back, pinning the enemy inside the building. Draakon was shot and wounded to the south, I was under fire by what little cover I had and pinned. When the EI broke from his building I decided to engage and make chase as the death of Bodge had enraged me. He was able to get to cover before me and saw me coming after him, in the end in a fight between an AK and a silenced M4 the AK is going to win..

Poctalon - Bravo 3 FTL - Kale AR, IceRaiser AAR, Aquarius AT

As we moved out from our forwards backwards the other way LZ movement I kept B3 some distance away from the main Bravo force, I positioned us where we had decent eyes on the road and soon enough we had audio contacts moving towards the rest of Bravo. We pushed up to the road ready to engage, and the vehicle we were ready for had turned around and scampered away. Kale didn't have VON working and had great difficulty keeping up with us, something to get better next time. I don't know what fireteam you ended up following but I spent a good bit of my time trying to work out where you'd gotten to.

Once we'd moved onto the other side of the road and moved up the hill we had contacts on our former position. TH2 was called in for a CAS run and they forced out what looked to be a single EI out of the forest, calling it in and deeming him not to be a threat as he was clearly in full PTSD meltdown. Seconds after calling in the contact report an enemy fireteam scampered from the trees to our west, B3 was tasked with engaging and we did our best with our AR MIA somewhere in Bravo. Contacts across the road were bugging out and we had infiltrating forces around us, a T34 was pushing through the hamlet to our south. I dispatched Aquarius to deal with it and was wounded along with a few others by it's fire. With a hit scored on it (I believe) the T34 disengaged and pulled out north, B3 taking one KIA Aquarius and two wounding. Hiddenfang our medic had us up in no time.

We moved through towards the 'located' crash site, with every 100 meters we moved the site moved 100 meters further away until it was eventually on the other side of the village and part way up slope. As Bravo pushed to get eyes on the valley Ice was the first to get to our intended regroup point, with poor eyes on anything from there I requested that B3 be allowed to assault the village and clear it. This was approved and we set off, then it wasn't approved but we'd already entered the village and Ice was wounded. I fired GP smoke onto his position by the big red house, that brought most of the big red house down next to him. I checked my corners and dashed across to heal him up.

With B1 and B2 clearing more of the village B3 was ordered to push to a marker close to the crash site, I requested to assault the cash site and was granted permission. Ice was the first to make it to the data and began the pornsensitive data transfer.

B3 covered back towards the village, I set myself up 10m away from the downed heli by a tree. B3 AR wandered off again this time into the cleared village. I wasn't aware of that until spotting enemy contacts moving from the hillside into the town and calling them in B3 was reinforced by another Bravo fireteam, I head to my horror 'friendlies inside the village' over direct. Checking my map sure enough they were right. When the first wave of contacts were killed I let my AR know when the signal was given to wait a few seconds then pull the fuck back to my position. I called to all of Bravo that a friendly was coming out the village and to hold fire.

With B3 back in once place the enemy attack returned. EI were swarming the entire left side of the heli, I spotted an enemy technical driving down the road and lobbed a GP at it, it stopped fast right before the explosion, the gunner and driver killed I called cease fire deciding it'd probably be handy to have a heavy gun. Without even a chance to reload my GP I was wounded, moments later so was Ice. I told all of Bravo to pick Ice up as he was the transfer man and needed to be kept alive. When he was picked up and smoked the area a little I crawled up to him. The transfer was done and he started to heal me up, but ended up getting shot. I fired my last mag at enemies black hawk down style swarming us. Then I was dead..

Kavaleola - Opfor Medic

Points to remember Mamuto, you may have not had NVG but you had numbers and ammo, we had better optics but only 60 rounds of rifle ammo each. Plus inside town the lights actually wash out NVGs so all balanced in the end.. Also once it starts raining you can't see anything, trial and error as we go :zoidberg:

ASL Ice dispatched me to join Heads fireteam, I moved with them first to defend a location north, when the big boom went off south we ran, and ran and wheezed and ran and died of an asthma attack along the way. Eventually I got myself into a building with direct observation onto or second defensive box of boom. When Bodge and Ice, and A2 met with contacts A1 was ordered to move up and engage with the enemy, Head held in place for a moment but I decided as I'd only lightly attached myself to them I'd move to where the shooting and wounded were, I cross the street after leaving my building and was heading towards the sounds of gunfire. I spotted a fireteam run across in front of me and called it in. Ice requested I mark the location, I wasn't able to due to me shooting for my life, I requested Head mark my location and the position of the enemy. This is where we found an issue with the join group feature. I was able to see where the FTL marker was, and where my tiny little triangle was on the map. Nobody in the fireteam I'd joined was able to see where I was on the map. I was shot and killed giving the best contact report I could..

Breach in the wall - Bravo 2 AR - Mamuto FTL, Xenu AT

Wheezy wheezy unfit tracers and rain. That sums up that mission. I was a little disappointed Mig MMG Super and Ice weren't able to hear me when B2 joined them at a wall, myself and Super did a stance dance for a few seconds then it was time to puke our guys up a little more and move out. I can't express how much I deeply enjoy being an AR at night and firing tracers, I also really enjoy the recoil of the AR and keeping it under control. I fired three times in this mission, first at contacts close and near the start of the mission. Then I didn't fire until hitting the chapel and town. Atmospherics are really up a notch when you are tasked to clear a building and get to the door, turn on your light and make entry, I cleared three buildings and a chapel this way really enjoying it. Entering the chapel with my AR lightshowbringer angered the many Arma gods as a cloudless sky opened up with rain. From then on I couldn't see anything, I saw contacts in the town but only when they moved from dark into light. I called in contacts up the road and got myself into a firing position, I accidentally fired five or six rounds, making that my second trigger pull of the mission. Alpha crossed the road into the town and we pushed up to the left of them, Bravo medic nearly got himself killed by crossing my BOF, a quick "move or you'll get killed" call and his was tucked away behind cover again. Once we pushed out of the town B2 was to clear the hillside. I paused inside the windmill to catch my breath, Mamuto and Xenu moved off the hill. I stayed up as I had great eyes into the next section of town, through the rain that is, I was able to see EI moving thanks to the lights. I opened up sending 200 rounds down onto the contacts. I shouted 'reloading' on VON and barely made the reload when incoming tracers were hitting around me. I didn't have time to pull back and ended up getting headshotted. I then had amusing fun with the very broken spectator script, I sadly wasn't able to catch my "spirit seagull".

Doctor Doctor
INDFOR CO
Ooh, the mess I'm in... :psyduck: . Well, teleport kicked in, and we moved: Lead and A(1) on the southern approach, BA2 and the two-man strong CA3 east. OPFOR had a guard perched on the minaret, and were obviously going nowhere, so we chose to skulk a bit and see what the boys in blue plan to do. Soon enough, A2 heard them land out east, from which I (by the looks of it correctly) deduced they plan to do absolutely nothing. With the eastern element now wedged between two worlds of hurt, I figured we might as well move in before BLUFOR remembers they have guns. A2 and 3 moved west, A(1) moved north, and I silently wished for an Enfield as I sunk my second mag trying to flush Dogface out from that damn window. Soon enough, most of INDFOR (and OPFOR) was dead, with BLUFOR neither seen nor heard. I moved in, Mammuto died, Willem was phasing in and out of conciousness due to PC issues, and Super was screaming from the windows after presumably dabbling in local flora. As Willem was getting a hold of himself, BLUFOR nowhere in sight, and the powers that be getting impatient, I decided to engage in some light mayhem, reduced OPFOR numbers to 1, and as I was changing my angle before Inverselaw figures where I am, I was dropped in a hail of silenced (?!?) gunfire. Well, look who decided to come play :cop:

There was something wrong with that tank. I didn't even fire the second rocket untill I saw it move the gun again. I mean, T-34 are excelent tanks, but Jesus...

Phoenix beware a moon moon attacking from the rear! It was I that shot Mamuto first at 22:32 (nice to see I hit him) and then got him again at 23:27. You fell into my evil medic trap right at 25:15.

Remember Bluefor is a very small force, we used our sneakiness to our advantage. It's not cowardice it's cunning!

Anyway behold Bluefor at it's sneaky finest!
