Today we had 35 wonderful comrades turn up to submit themselves for the meat grinder, and oh boy was it wonderful!
  • The Generalissimo's Mother - Saw me a chief lunch box driver!
  • Horse Hc - This saw an awesome tank advance with a hard push at the end. Only the swede tank and egg made it!
  • Cacheola - This run of the classic saw a really nice CQB in zargalag that saw blufor take a close victory!
  • Cholo - Strang got abit lost. Penny got crept up upon.
Good session was fun to host and play in! Don't forget about our Friday V+ sessions and our Sunday main session!

Post feedback, stories, videos and pics below!

Since no one else apparently has anything to say about this session, allow me. All my deaths summed into one video xD Looking forward to Friday. Haven't used ACRE in years.

Generalissimo
A1 FTL - THippo, WrathzR, Pickers, dvl

A really fun mission. Thanks moon! The mix between convoy-stuff and infantry-stuff was nice, and there were lots of things to do throughout.

A1 got to be the front men for Alpha, and the assault of the first few buildings along the road went swimmingly. We had plenty of support fire and cleared out everything quickly. Also, having an extra guy was nice, since i could leave what i thought was the AR slightly behind us. (No audio, that symbol means AT.... )
I had a gang of good formation movers with me, everything went ok until we failed to notice that WrathzR was dead. Luckily nobody filmed that embarrasing incident! :D

After that we moved up to SuperU and Stranglove's M113, and committed the fatal mistake of boarding it. SuperU glued the gas pedal to the floor and we got to partake in the closest thing the party has ever been to breaking the speed of light. Then we all got to burn to death, YAY! :hist101:

FTL'ing this was really fun. Thanks to Tink for giving us a lot of things to do and to the fireteam for being totally ninja.

Horse
RECON Pilot - Issus

Being an effective spotter in a chopper was not something i had any idea about how to do, but i wanted to try.
I flew it pretty inefficiently, and i'm thinking that i would've been wiser to hover above the front tank squad to get good eyes from above. Instead i pulled too far ahead and got promptly shot down.

Thoughts/insights as to how to fly a chopper smart during a mission like this?

Cacheola
BLUFOR A1 FTL - Zitron, Issus, Tired Hippo

Ah, my good old greatest fear! Having to manage a fireteam that is partially mounted in a HMMV for much of the mission. Luckily for us, it went much, much better than the last time i tried.
Urban warfare is really fun when buildings are used properly, and that went better than it used to. This time A1 got to stay in the back whilst everybody else was murderized, and we could have some intense, silent fun with the invisible foe that could be anywhere towards the end of the mission. Unfortunatyl, said enemy turned out to be IceRaiser.... :siiigh:

A great session. Oh, and this is what FOLKARPS doing tank maneuvers ends up looking like :

What a great session! We're going from strength to strength in 2014. :) WrathzRvenege, that's a great video, glad to see another videographer join our ranks. Pretty awesome also to see things in Horse, the tank mission, from the pointy end of the company rather than the back. :P Audiox, not that I'm an expert pilot but I think the best tactic for spotting is to stay low and back, then scoot forward behind some defilade and pop up for a quick look now and then. Well done on providing some valuable intel before your fiery demise, though. :P

The Generalissimo's Mother - A3 Automatic Rifleman

Off to a sedate start we piled in some nice, sturdy, bulletproof iron boxes on wheels (aka the venerable M-113) to escort our brave generalissimo into the diplomatic hellstorm of a visit with his mother. Pulling up to a compound along the way we encountered our first contacts, but the massed fire of our troops and IFV's soon cleared them out. Taking a detour up a nearby hill we shot some more bad guys running amok on the dunes and secured a tactical crossroads. At this point our feet were getting a bit tired so we hopped back in the M-113s for a stretch. Soon developing cramps in our legs, we disembarked again to stretch our legs and pop off a few shots at some distant miscreants before embarking, one last fateful time, in our metal steed. The cramped interior soon rang with the shots of the mounted machinegun, and then with fire and screams as something - an RPG round, unless my ears deceive me - turned the vehicle into a locked oven. See for yourself here:

You can also watch the whole mission, if you feel so inclined!

Horse Hc - Commander

Well, what an explosive run this turned out to be! With fond memories of our recent run at this, I decided to give commanding it a go. My basic idea was to try and multiply the already considerable firepower of our tank company by keeping the four-tank platoons formed up in close order, so that every ridge we crested could be hosed down with a simultaneous barrage of massed fire. Meanwhile, the infantry commanded by Commisar SuperU would hang about at the flanks ready to clear out any troublesome targets lodged deep in the trees, while recon would occasionally pop forwards to mark targets, and my tank and the engineers would lurk at the back ready to help out as needed.

Despite the bevy of threats from every direction, this worked out remarkably well, with the squad/'platoon' leaders Ebass and.. Head? (Several comrades in Bravo got field promoted during the course of the mission..) ably corraling their herd of iron beasties, and maintaining a deadly wall of fire to cover any damaged tanks as they pulled back for repairs. Super was the first to take contact as his troops rushed into the trees, desperate for glory, and once Alpha and Bravo had got themselves formed up, they rolled in to assist. We took several hits before we were able to mass up and cross our first major crest, but once we did everything we saw was soon blown up and burning, including a rambunctious T72 that rolled in from our right flank.

That flank continued to prove troublesome, however, disgorging tanks and troops that kept the dancemoox's engineers scurrying diligently about. After a stormy battle we huddled down around a farmhouse amidst the burning wrecks of our enemies, fixed ourselves up and advanced on the next area of resistance.

Down to about half strength at this point, with the recon chopper shot down after several fruitful scouting runs, we drew closer together and started to pick up the pace towards Lopatino. However, the whipcracks and pistol-prods from High Command continued until we were inspired into a full-on, pell-mell, every-comrade for himself dash towards the endzone. The beleagured road we'd spent so much blood and cordite to make our own had truly become a highway... a highway... to the DANGER ZONE.

You can also see the finale in full and without rad music here:

And if you're still thirsty for more you can see the whole glorious thing here, although until it all kicks off, a lot of it is me blathering away with my nose in a map.

Cacheola - BLUFOR (attacking) A2 FTL

Finally we headed to Zargabad for a bit of a nighttime jaunt in search of weapons caches. With a tank barrier claiming A3's vehicle, they were forced to head to the villa on foot for a decoy mission, trying to draw the insurgents' eyes away from our main advance from the southwest, via the airfield. After spotting some enemies and blasting away at them with our M2s, we split up to move in on the caches. A2 speared their way towards one potential location, but was obliterated by SuperU and his defenders, who pelted us with bullets, grenades, and even an explosive-powered bus of death. After some skirmishes among the criss-crossed alleys, Super and Toppo were eventually all that remained, clearing caches one by one and and leaving a trail of explosions and corpses, including that of a predatory Iceraiser. Finally only WrathzRevenge remained to challenge them, hunting alone but eventually tracking them down... the full mission is below, but first, might I tempt you with a few highlights?

No? You want the main course? Very well, then:
