Post by Cam »

Missions:
  • Ambush at Tobolsk (Podagorsk)
  • HOSTages (Cindercity)
  • Helo On Earth (Podagorsk)
  • Tree Valleys (Sahrani)
  • Danger Zone (Podagorsk)
  • Random Engagements (Sahrani)
  • Radio Stars (Sahrani)
Fun session, cheers for coming. 12 comrades, so a slightly lower player-count than we usually pull, but still a pretty fun shindig. Feel free to post your thoughts and feelings, and ideally an AAR below.

First V+ session for me tonight and it was quite a nice introduction to V+

I'd usually take some notes between missions so I can write an amusing AAR in the morning but I totally forgot, the distraction was probably caused by the extraction helicopter deciding it wanted to hug me with its rotor blades / land on me in the third mission..

Ambush at Tobolsk (Podagorsk)

I was Alpha explosives man and did my job setting up the charges by the road and waited inside a tree for Dogface to call the 'bigbadabooom' moment. I then spent the rest of the mission before my death patching up Dogface and Pr3sario.

HOSTages (Cindercity)

Bluefor Medic. After loosing two guys before even getting to the target building I had my Hippocratic blood up. Leaving the breach debacle for someone more AT to explain I patched up Pr3sario by the rolling door entrance and went to see if I could patch up what was left of Lord Penny, sadly he was very dead when I got inside. I managed to serpentine my way across the open warehouse only shooting at the hostage a little. In my defense he alarmed me and I couldn't hear him shouting "I'm the hostage don't shoot, don't shoot" over the sound of my awesome high speed low drag medical man entrance. Once I confirmed he was indeed unarmed I escorted him out the building providing meat shielding to him as he departed.

Helo On Earth (Podagorsk)

Was this the mission the helicopter searching for us landed on top of me and Drakkon screamed "leave the wounded" and stepped over my writhing body? If it was after being patched up I ran for the new LZ and got in the hotseat next to the pilot and promptly died. At least my body will be returned to my loved ones..

The rest of the missions are a concussed blur after that, sorry for getting the SL radio utterly wrong on the ambush mission I took SL in. I shall learn from that (I hope). Sorry for shooting you in the dark Kale. It took three lots of first aid to patch you up it was so very, very, very dark. I hope to see the Bluefor side of things in the TDM we played on that hill, I hopefully redeemed my poor radio skills with excellent use of sneaky ninja moonmoon flank attacks.. I'm not really sure who shot me in my last minute parachute drop no arms screaming wounded run attack but I hope it was unsettling, enjoy the PTSD!

Nice little session guys, hopefully I'll work out what way I should be holding a radio by the next time I play :clint:

Another epic video Pr3sario thoroughly enjoyed watching that all back.

Beware the flanks for that is where the moon moon attacks!

Augh ffffffff the forum just ate my AAR. :I

Short version: got massacred by Strykers, flew a chopper and didn't crash, wandered through the woods and got left behind, flanked like a boss, and massacred paratroopers. Huzzah! Also presario, that video is fab. :3 Great session, thanks for running these Cam!

Ambush At Tobolsk
INDFOR: Bravo Fire Team Member
-- Zergra
-- Cam
-- Dabbo
-- AI (Left open for Lord Penney, who never arrived)

We completely fubar'd the convoy and I think we got flanked in the same way as before too - except I was MAT last time and camping in the hills to the East, I wasn't aware foot patrols would come at us from behind - as well as not recognising them from friendlies (that's a fault of my own). The range of the 343's didn't cover the scout positions, but was just enough to get a message to command.

I was an effective trigger man, but as soon as my team were gunned down from behind, I tried to help then hesitated when an enemy casually walked past me, then shot me as I was trying to work out if he was an enemy!

HOSTages
INDFOR: A villain of some description.
-- Washington
-- Draakon
-- Kaleovil
-- daf
-- Dabbo

Started the mission by asking for permission to ambush the assaulting team as the approached the building, but Draakon set me straight by reminding me of the mission notes :) So I came back inside the building. The hostage was talking a lot, on shout at a guess to give away his position. The aim on my crappy AK? gun couldn't hit a thing and close quarters, so I died pretty easily, even though I was originally in a good spot to monitor the hostage.

Helo on Earth
BLUFOR: Alpha 1 Fire Team Member
-- daf
-- Kalelovil
-- Pre3sario
-- Dogface
-- Dabbo

We moved south, some good covering, encountered some light forces and grabbing their gear, the helo pilot took a while to find a place to set down, even injuring some players :). Unfortunately, as he landed the enemy were already on top of us, so it was pretty much every man for himself - we decided to move to the rail tracks to pick up some non-injured players but we took more casualties ending up with just 3 of us alive in the helo. I survived, I have trouble sleeping at night, I still see the faces of my fallen comrades when I close my eyes *sniff*.

Tree Valleys
(I deleted the footage and I cant remember any of it)

Danger Zone
INDFOR: Alpha 2 Fire Team Leader
-- Dabbo
-- Zitron
-- Draakon

We set up on a flat-ish hill with no clear view of the road we were tasked to start the assault. Unfortunately, the convoy was at that point quickly and we didn't have time to re-position. That meant engaging about 3-4 strikers in open ground, I got mashed up within 0.00243 seconds.

Random Engagements
BLUFOR: Alpha 1 Fire Team Leader
-- Dabbo
-- daf
-- Kalelovil
-- Zitron

This was the mission where I was victim of some awesome flanking maneuvers. The OPFOR team were well set-up and must have spotted us early on to get their second group to flank our position - were were all gutted on the hill. I wasn't even injured, insta-head shot :(

Radio Stars
INDFOR: Some medic dude
-- Draakon
-- Dogface
-- Dabbo

I wanted to climb the tower to snipe/spot them - I did have night vision at the start, so I thought this was possible - but the lack of action to climb the tower and my night vision being taken from me half way through meant that wasn't an option.

I was then ordered to guard the hostage (Cam). I was quite harsh with him, in the end, he tried coaxing me out into the open, but I explicitly told him to stay by the door and at the same time, Draakon was telling me that BLUFOR doesn't care for the welfare of the hostage - so, as Cam ran away from the doorway for the second time, I opened up on him and left him bleeding out on the ledge. Harsh, Harsh, Harsh - the banter was fun.

In helo on Earth I was the guy who got you guys out. After zitron had died we sat there for a minute where we did nothing. When we noticed his untimely demise. I decided to head for the sky and get us out of there. Had a hard time stabilisin' but still we left.
Died during the pro SAS MLG paradrop thing.
