Because I don't know where else I could share this

Post by thekev506 »

As some of you know I'm currently in the Czech Republic, teaching English.

On Friday two parents turned up at school in the morning, looking to speak to me specifically. They weren't annoyed or anything, they came to ask me if I'd like to go to the pub on Sunday. Weird request, but I said yes out of courtesy, being English.

The dad turned up today, and it turned out they didn't actually mean pub, but meant dinner at their place. That's not weird. The weird thing is that he turned up in this to take me there:

That's a Czech V3S, a communist-era army truck which the dad has been restoring and brought along to impress me with. I work in a little village south or Prague, and as we slowly worked out way up the hills and winding roads I realised that this was probably the closest I'm going to get to actually driving around Chernarus in a Ural truck, and I thought I'd share it with you lovely FA types.

Outstanding, comrade! That is absolutely priceless - thank you for sharing. If only we had the funds to buy one for the Party!

We can roll around in these all day comrade! Behold the TK guerrilla refuel / resupply / re-whatever truck:

Me and him, we're from different ancient tribes. Now we're both almost extinct. Sometimes you gotta stick with the ancient ways, the old school ways. I know you understand me.

Ural truck.. ugh it hurts Kev, it really does :D

But yeah, as you said it is quite a cool V3S there.
Did he restore it as a military truck? With all the insignia and everything? Or was it a civilian version?

Anyway, next time get some buddies together, ring this dude up and go shoot some AK's and RPK's in a range. :jihad:
Oh and don't forget to bring turbans and spray-paint tractors all over that range.

Edit: Also did you amaze him with your knowledge of the thing, because you guessed straight away what it is and that the flatbed version can transport a full squad? :D

It's the military version, genuine army surplus and only had 600km on it when bought, looks exactly like the one I posted. Wish I'd had my camera with me! No seatbelts or any of that modern stuff like sound insulation for those soft civvies.

I think the technical term for such a thing is 'ambulance'

Comrades, I think the correct term is party bus.
