Something I've been working on

Post by feanix »

Most of the work was balancing the right chute deploy times and drop heights. I did spend some time trying to make the chute match the UGV's velocity and pitch to minimize the glitchiness (there's a slight pitch snap when the chute deploys atm, but I can't seem to get rid of it)

Seems good. It looks really similar to my ATV and Boat drop script from inside a Chinook (just.. you know, it's outside now), and I've been looking at it aswell. Just a few ideas, in case you want to use heavier tanks (personally I like to stick a Panther to a Ghost Hawk):

Decrease the speed of the Hawk. This is very important as velocity / gravity will take over once the chute has been deployed.
Remember to GLUE THE UGV TO THE CHUTE, not vice versa. Gravity will not be in effect if you glue the chute to the UGB, and it can cause extreme damage.
If you want to have a specific landing place, make sure to help out with setVelocity a bit.
Increase the height of the Hawk. From the video, the Hawk has a speed of somewhat 150-160 km/h and a height of max 100. As previously mentioned, that can be deadly for some things and I'm sure the UGV took some damage from it.

Here's a video example of 2 of my scripts (useable only with Konyo's MH-47E), if you want the code, tell me. I still have it.
