I'm Stoner. Not I'm A Stoner, but...

I started writing computer games in 1971, and I've been a gamer ever since. Back then, we didn't have all these fancy graphics that you kids demand nowadays. Nope. Output was to a 10 character-per-second teletype machine (ASR-33) and printed on a continuous roll of paper. AND WE LOVED IT!!!

I mostly play FPS, RTS (anxiously awaiting Rome 2:Total War), and city builders. Just prior to ArmA2, I was addicted to Farming Simulator 2013, which was a nice break from all the killing (and dying) in Spec Ops:The Line. I originally ignored ArmA and ArmA2 because I've dedicated hundreds of hours to BF2. I bought ArmA2 recently on Steam because it was on sale and Rock,Paper, Shotgun did a story on a a fun group of guys called Folk ARPS. This group welcomed newbies to the series, wasn't filled with 15 year-old boys with attitude, and openly tolerated gross incompetence where dying is all too common. During my four Sunday sessions so far, I've found welcoming attitude to be prevalent.

IRL, I'm an old fart living in Dallas, Texas and have been in information technology for over 40 years; back in the old days, we called it Automated Data Processing. My wife hates that I spend so much time online gaming, but I could be worse. I could watch online porno or stalk Justin Bieber. I spent ten years as an officer in the US Air Force in military intelligence; no, that is not a contradiction in terms.

I just read above that Ferrard is from Dallas, as am I. You'll note that I did not mention "Dallas, Texas" nor "Dallas, Texas, USA"; there is no need for such useless information, as there is but one Dallas of any note. So, you may speak of your Swedish and Norwegian contingecies in the previous posts. Whistle past the graveyard, if you will. The Glory of Texas is here!!!

Hi. My name is Johannes, aka Zergra. I am among the youngest people around FA, being 15. I live in Sweden in Uppsala. I go to school, train karate, ride horses and play games. Since i was 5 i have always been playing, starting with stuff like the PS2(sly, spyro, ratchet). When i was 10 i got into online gaming with WoW and tft2.

When one fatefull night, when I was 14, i was browsing steam and i saw this thing called "arma 2: free". Out of curiosity i downloaded it and played. I was introduced to a clunky game, an ugly game people say. But i was amased by so many people cooperating on one server... the server what played normal Domi with the best ping... Arma Paper Shotgun. So one day ,about more than half a year ago,I browsed the web looking for more information when i fiund the arps forum.
Intrigued by the promise of just being able to join I continued. Cos I had problems joining anything because you had to be 18+. But not this thing no. The rest is self explanatory.

Hello all, I'm harakka. I've been fiddling with computers ever since I got my hands on a used Spectravideo SVI-728. I was very young, and one of the few games I had for it was a text adventure called Salvage. I spent a lot of time with that game and a dictionary, trying to unlock its secrets without success, but learning rudimentary basics English in the process (complemented by watching taped Transformers and Go-Bots, again with the dictionary). I also started writing terribly bad games with the BASIC interpreter, and kept doing that for a while even after receiving the much-loved Amiga 500 a few years later, with its amazing sound, graphics and pirating-friendly floppy disks.

After that came the first PC, the first modem and BBSes, the first (but not last) huge phone bill and eventually a slightly better PC, dial-up Internet and QuakeWorld. I first got into online games with QW, eventually running a Team Fortress (the original, not Team Fortress Classic) clan with a couple of friends. I didn't play on public servers, clan versus clan matches with their requirement for cooperation and tactics was where it was at. In '99 the same happened with Counter-Strike, and even later on, with Guild Wars guild vs. guild mode.

I had played Operation Flashpoint (particularly the Resistance expansion) only in single player previously, and when Rock Paper Shotgun posted about ARMA2 Free in early summer 2011, I had to try it out. I already knew people played ARMA as a large-scale tactical cooperative game, and after getting some helpful people to play Domination with me from the RPS Steam chat, BIS had a new customer and I was hooked. I've been here ever since.

When not frolicking about in Chernarus or Takistan, I'm a 30-year old computer science student named Antti living in south-western Finland. Aside from sitting in front of the computer, I can be found sitting on lectures, reading books (sometimes even for fun!), listening to music, going hiking once in a long while, and herding two cats with my SO. I also have a fondness for really bad movies and military surplus clothes and gear.

I'm Guy, A.K.A. Terminal Boy in-game and everywhere else on the Internet. I live in London, though I'd rather be destroying my liver with wine and pastis somewhere off the beaten track in France.

Another refugee from PCGF, I can regularly be found over on Sekrit where I've learned to play reasonably nicely with socialists providing their 5 Year Plan features beer and strippers. I'm actually far nicer in-game than in real life.

I've been playing computer games since a ZX Spectrum with a 48 KB RAM pack hanging off the back was the top gaming rig to be had. Got into MP shooters through Counter Strike and played a fair bit of BF2: PRM over on Tactical Gamer a while back where I reached the exalted rank of Bullet Magnet/Human Distraction Device 2nd Class.

Like many others, I found ARMA2 through needing it to play DayZ. I haven't played ARMA2 MP before, but I have enough SP and DayZ time to be familiar with the standard controls and interface.

I'm hoping to join the fun on Sunday evening providing I get my gaming rig transplanted into its new case in time.

When not killing pixels and needlessly modifying PCs, I work for a cult-like consumer electronics manufacturer, testing the telecoms elements of their shiny things. Other hobbies include drinking lots of London Pride and occasionally playing semi-tactical dress-up (airsoft).

My exact age is classified, but as my eldest daughter starts university this Autumn, I'm no spring chicken any more..

Look forward to seeing you on Sunday! I joined these fine folk recently myself, and it's been a wonderful experience.

Since there are so many people in the main sessions these days, it's hard to get to know anyone a bit better. I've found the permanent skype chat and the other smaller sessions that are run on occasion very good for that purpose

Thats the problem with these oldtimers, they can't multi task like use young kids. 3 screens, one for porn, one for arma, and one with the real time map of the location of Justin Bieber down to about 10cm.

I am Pepijn, ^Pepsi^ on Arma 2 and rockbody12 on a lot of other games...
I live in Amsterdam (Holland) and are currently a student (18 years old by the way). Most of my free time I spend with playing football (or soccer if you're an american).
When I am not playing soccer, haning out with friends or working as a referee for the KNVB (dutch soccer organisation), I play computer games.

I have ArmA 2 for about half a year mostly on some random MP servers, who are getting boring really fast...
Trief the SP of ArmA 2 for a little time but got frustrated with the bugs and the uncontrolleble AI.
I really liked the idea of playing tactical cooperative game and I am very exciting playing with you.

I will most likely join you most of the time on sunday but heard that you are also playing sessions on Tuesday?
Don't know if I can take part of that because of my football practice but we will see.
